Zirtek Tablets are used for the effetive relief of the cold-like symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) such as sneezing, itchiness and a blocked or runny nose. They can also rellieve the symptoms of urticaria, also known as hives or nettle rash, a raised, red, itchy rash that appears on the skin.
Zirtek Allergy Relief Tablets are used for the relief of symptoms of hay fever and other allergic symptoms such as:
- Dust allergies
- Skin allergies
- Pet allergies
- Hives
Taking regular doses of Cetirizine during the key hay fever seasons will help to prevent the symptoms taking affect.
What is allergic rhinitis?
Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) is caused by an allergic reaction to an allergen, such as either pollen, dust or certain animals.
If you have allergic rhinitis, your natural defence against infection and illness (your immune system) will react to an allergen as if it were harmful.
If your immune system is oversensitive, it’ll react to allergens by producing antibodies to fight them off.
What causes allergic rhinitis?
Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) is triggered by breathing is small particles of allergens, the most common airborne allergens are:
House dust mites… house dust mites are tiny insects that feed on the dead flakes of the human skin. They can be found in mattresses, carpets, soft furniture, pillows and bed.
Rhinitis is not caused by the dust mites themselves, but by a chemical found in their excrement.
Dust mites are present all year round, although their numbers tend to peak during the winter.
Pollen and spores… tiny particles of pollen produced by trees and grasses can sometimes cause allergic rhinitis.
Most trees pollinate from early to mid-spring, whereas grasses pollinate at the end of spring and the beginning of summer.
Rhinitis can also be caused by spores produced by mould and fungi.
Animals… many people are allergic to animals, such as dogs and cats. The allergic reaction is not caused by animal fur, but flakes of dead animal skin and their urine and saliva.
Cats and dogs are the most common animals to cause allergies, however some people are affected by horses, rabbits, rodents, such as guinea pigs and hamsters.
Symptoms of allergic rhinitis:
Allergic rhinitis normally causes cold-like symptoms, such as sneezing, itchiness and a blocked or runny nose.
Your symptoms will normally start soon after being exposed to an allergen.
Some people can only get allergic rhinitis for a few months at a time because they are seasonal allergens, such as tree or grass pollen, and some people can suffer from allergic rhinitis all year round.
Directions for use:
Adults and children above 12 years old: ONE tablet a day.
Children between 6 and 12 years old: HALF a tablet twice a day.
Do not take Zirtek Allergy Solution:
- If you have severe kidney disease.
- If you are allergic to Cetirizine Dihydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed below.
What Zirtek Allergy Solution contains:
Cetirizine dihydrochloride, microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, Opadry Y-1-7000 (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (E 464), titanium dioxide (E 171), Macrogol 400).
Caution:
May cause drowsiness. If affected do not operate heavy machinery.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
