This works by loosening the mucus which is trapped in the chest, throat and nose, and also contains an antihistamine which helps with the symptoms that are associated with a cold or allergies to help with the congestion.

What causes a mucus cough?

A cough which produces mucus can sometimes occur in response to irritation from an allergy or irritant.

This is why Robitussin plus Mucus contains two active ingredients Guaifenesin which helps to loosen the mucus, and Pseudoephedrine which helps with the congestion associated with allergies.

What are the symptoms of a mucus cough?

Robitussin plus Mucus with congestion will help provide relief from the following symptoms:

  • A runny or stuffy nose.
  • A feeling of liquid running down the back of your throat.
  • Frequent throat clearing and sore throat.
  • Wheezing and shortness of breath.
  • Sour taste in your mouth or heartburn.

Can this be used in pregnancy?

It is advised that if you are pregnant or breastfeeding to speak with your doctor before using this medication.

Who is this suitable for?

Robitussin plus mucus with congestion is suitable for adults, elderly and children over the age of 12.

Directions for use:

Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: Take 10ml up to four times a day, as required.

Who is this not suitable for?

Not to be used in children under the age of 12 years.

Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed below.

Do not take if you are suffering from heart disease, overactive thyroid gland, glaucoma, diabetes, an enlarged prostate gland or have difficulty in passing urine.

Take special care and talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have had a cough for a long time, or if you have asthma or are suffering from an asthma attack.

Contains:

Guaifenesin, Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, Glycerol, Carmellose Sodium, Disodium Edetate, Sodium Benzoate (E211), Sodium Cyclamate, Amaranth (E123), Ethanol (86%), Levomenthol, Maltitol (E965), Sorbitol Solution 70%, Natural cherry flavouring, Citric Acid, Anhydrous, Caramel (E150), Acesulfame Potassium and Purified Water.

Side Effects:

Robitussin is generally well tolerated but the following side effects tend to be the most serious side effects:

  • Allergic reaction.
  • Sudden onset of fever.
  • A feeling your heart is beating too fast or having palpitations.

If you experience any of the symptoms listed above please stop taking the medication and contact your doctor or pharmacist.
