A banana flavoured, single dose suspension for the treatment of threadworm in adults and children. Bottle contains 6 single 5ml doses that is designed to kill threadworm.
Threadworm is a contagious infection which can affect the whole family. If you are suffering from threadworm and need a solution that will work for everyone in your household.
Ovex is available in packs of one tablet, a pack of four tablets or this liquid suspension which will give you 6 doses.
What is Threadworm?
Threadworm is a type of infection that affects your digestive system. It happens when you come into contact with threadworm eggs and swallow them. The eggs will then hatch into tiny, thread-like worms your gut and begin to lay more eggs around your anus.
What are the symptoms of Threadworm?
- White worms in your faeces which look like strings of white thread.
- Itching around the anus, especially at night.
- Irritability.
- Waking up during the night.
- Weight loss.
- Wetting the bed.
- Irritation around the anus.
Dosage:
Adults and children over 2 years: One 5ml spoonful (teaspoon), per family member, to be given as a single dose.
We do advise that if one person in the household is showing symptoms to treat the whole family with a dose.
DO NOT give to children under 2 years of age.
DO NOT exceed the stated dose.
Where worm infection is suspected, all members of the household should be treated.
You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days.
If you are re-infected your pharmacist may recommend that a second tablet is taken after two weeks.
Contains:
Active Ingredient: Mebendazole 100mg per 5ml.
Also Contains: Sucrose, Microcrystalline cellulose and carmellose sodium, Methylcellulose, Methylparahydroxybenzoate E218), Propylparahydroxybenzoate (E216), Sodium laurilsulfate, banana flavour, (containing propylene glycol (E1520)), citric acid monohydrate and purified water.

What Side Effects Could I Expect?
Like all medicines, Ovex can cause side-effects, although not everybody gets them.
If you experience any of the following, stop using the medicine and seek immediate medical help:
Common: (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
- Stomach pain
Uncommon: (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
- Stomach discomfort
- Diarrhoea
- Wind
Can I Use Ovex If I Am Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
DO NOT take this medicine if you are pregnant, or think you might be pregnant. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine if you are breastfeeding.
Can I Buy Ovex Suspension Over The Counter?
This medicine is available to buy over the counter. You do not need a prescription to buy Ovex Suspension but you will be asked some questions about your medical health when you add it to your basket.
