Loratadine tablets, also known by their brand name Clarityn are a non-drowsy antihistamine that provides relief of allergy symptoms such as itchy, watery eyes, runny or blocked nose, sneezing and itchy skin reactions.

What are the symptoms of hay fever?
Symptoms of hay fever include:
- Sneezing and coughing.
- A runny or blocked nose.
- Itchy, red or watery eyes.
- Itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears.
- Loss of smell.
- Pain around your temples and forehead.
- Headache.
- Earache.
- Feeling tired.
How To Use:
Adults and children over the age of 12: One tablet once daily.
How quickly does Loratadine work?
Loratadine 10mg Tablets take around 1 – 3 hours to start working, so are best suited to daily use, preventing allergies like hay fever. However, whilst they may take a little time to start working, they can also be used to treat mild allergies as well.
Top tip:
For those of us unfortunate enough to be found delicious by mosquitoes and biting insects, taking a once a day antihistamine like this allergy medicine, it can help to stop the itching caused by these bites.

Who is it not suitable for?
Do not take Loratadine if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients listed below.
- Do not give to children who weigh less than 30kg.
Side effects:
Like all medicines, Loratadine does have side effects. However, not everyone will experience them.
If you experience any of the following side effects stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor.
- Skin rash or eruptions (including inside the mouth)
- Itching.
- Swelling of the face, tongue, lips, hands, or feet.
- Breathing difficulty.
Can Loratadine be used during Pregnancy or breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant, it is advised that you speak with your doctor before taking this medicine.
If you are breastfeeding, DO NOT use this medicine as this treatment passes into the mother’s milk.
