About:
Imodium Dual Action Relief works by restoring your bowel to its normal rhythm. This helps to restore the absorption of fluids into your body. It also helps to soothe the discomfort of painful cramps.

Imodium Dual Action Relief contains 2 active ingredients, loperamide hydrochloride and simethicone. Both these ingredients work together to slow the muscular contractions of the intestine and reduce the speed of the contents being pushed through the intestine, allowing for more water to be reabsorbed back into the body. Resulting in firmer stools that are passed less frequently.
Please Note: Imodium is intended for the symptomatic relief of diarrhoea only and is not a substitute for rehydration therapy. Always maintain adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration.
What is Diarrhoea?
Well, diarrhoea is the passage of three or more loose or liquid stools per day (or more frequently than is normal for the individual). Other symptoms can be present as well which include cramps, fever, nausea/vomiting and headaches.
Acute diarrhoea should last less than 14 days. Diarrhoea in Adults that lasts longer than 14 days or any Diarrhoea that has blood or pus present should be investigated by a doctor.
How To Use:
Tablets (6):
Adults over 18 years: 2 tablets, followed by 1 tablet after every loose stool. No more than 4 tablets per day.
Children aged 12 to 18 years: 1 tablet, followed by 1 tablet after every loose stool. No more than 4 tablets per day.
Caplets (12):
Adults and children over 18 years: Two caplets straight away followed by one caplet after each loose motion. No more than four caplets in 24 hours.
Children 12 to 18 years: One to be taken straight away then one to be taken after each loose bowel motion. No more than four caplets in 24 hours.
Ingredients:
Loperamide Hydrochloride 2mg and Simeticone equivalent to 125mg Dimeticone.
Other Ingredients: Calcium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous, microcrystalline cellulose, acesulfame potassium, artificial vanilla flavour (includes propylene glycol, maltodextrin and benzyl alcohol), sodium starch glycolate (type A) and stearic acid.
Who Should Not Use Imodium Dual Action Relief ?
Do not take this medicine IF:
- You have ever had a bad reaction to any of the ingredients.
- It is for a child aged under 12.
- You have severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics.
- You are having a flare-up of an inflammatory bowel condition like ulcerative colitis.
- You are constipated, or your stomach appears swollen (especially in children with severe dehydration).
- You are constipated or your stomach appears swollen.
Side Effects
Common side effects that occur in patients who use Imodium include:
- Headache
- Constipation
- Nausea
- Flatulence

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, because Imodium Plus Caplets may interact with them.
Driving and Using Machinery
This medicine may make you feel dizzy, tired or sleepy. You may feel less alert, feel faint or pass out. If you’re affected do not drive or use machines.
Can I Use Imodium Plus Comfort If I Am Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
If you are breastfeeding DO NOT take this medicine. Small amounts may get into your milk. Talk to your doctor about a suitable treatment.
Warning:
Use as directed. Ensure adequate fluid intake. Consult a pharmacist or GP if diarrhoea persists for more than 48 hours, worsens, or is accompanied by high fever, blood in stools, or severe dehydration.
