What are Clarityn Tablets?

Clarityn comes under a group of tablets called antihistamines, which means it works by blocking a natural substance called histamine in your body, this helps by blocking your allergy symptoms before they begin, working quickly to offer relief from symptoms.

What symptoms will Clarityn give relief from?

  • Runny nose.
  • Itchy, watery eyes.
  • Sneezing.
  • Itchy nose or throat.

Can I use Clarityn tablets if pregnant or breastfeeding?

Do not take Clarityn Allergy Tablets if you are breastfeeding. Loratadine which is the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk.

If you think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. As a precautionary measure it is preferable to avoid the use of these tablets during pregnancy.

Who is Clarityn Allergy tablets suitable for?

Clarityn Allergy Tablets are suitable for adults and children over the age of 6 years old and weight more than 30kg.

How to take Clarityn Allergy Tablets:

Adults and children 6 years and older who weight more than 30kg (4st 7lb): 1 tablets daily.

No more than 1 tablet in 24 hours.

Who is Clarityn not suitable for?

This medicine should not be used by the following groups of patients without first seeking medical advice from your GP or our pharmacist.

  • You have liver disease.
  • You are scheduled to have any skin tests for allergies. Do not take Clarityn Allergy tablets for 2 days before having these tests. This is because it may affect the test results.

What does Clarityn Allergy Tablets contain?

Loratadine 10mg, Lactose Monohydrate, Maize Starch, Magnesium Stearate.

What side effects could I expect?

Clarityn Allergy Tablets is generally well tolerated but the following side effects tend to be the most common:

  • Drowsiness.
  • Headache.
  • Increased appetite.
  • Difficulty sleeping.

Product warnings:

Not to be used under the age of 6 years old or have a body weight of less than 30kg.

Do not use if you have liver disease.

Keep out of sight and reach of children.
