Canesten Pessary 500mg (Single Applicator) provides targeted treatment for vaginal thrush. It is designed to be inserted into the vagina, where it works at the site of infection to relieve burning, itching, redness and discomfort.
Vaginal thrush is a common infection caused by a natural yeast imbalance, and this pessary is suitable for women who have previously been diagnosed with thrush by a doctor.
With correct use, symptoms of vaginal thrush should begin to improve within a few days, with full relief expected after completing the course.
What Causes Thrush?
Vaginal thrush is caused by yeast from a group of fungi called Candida.
Many women have Candida in their vagina without it causing any problems, but thrush can develop if the natural balance of micro-organisms in the vagina is disrupted and Candida multiplies.
However you are more likely to get thrush if you:
- Are pregnant.
- Certain antibiotics.
- Have a weakened immune system.
- Menopause.
- Certain medication.
What Is Thrush?
Thrush is a common yeast infection that affects both men and women. It is usually harmless but it can become very uncomfortable and keep coming back if not treated. It is not classed as a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
How To Use:
Wash your hands before and after inserting the Pessary.
Insert into the vagina preferably at night using the applicator provided.
If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, consult your doctor.
Ingredients:
Clotrimazole 500mg per Pessary.
Other: Cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, purified water and sodium hydroxide.
Warning:
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Only use if previously diagnosed with vaginal thrush.
Do not use during pregnancy or if trying for a baby without consulting your doctor or midwife.
Avoid contact with the eyes.
