About

Actifed is a multi-action tablet that is used to relieve the symptoms of colds, flu and allergies including runny nose, watery eyes, nasal congestion and blocked sinuses.

Actifed contains 2 active ingredients, an antihistamine and a decongestant which work together to combat your cold, flu or allergy symptoms.

How To Use:

Adults and children over 12 years: One tablet every four to six hours (four times daily).

DO NOT take more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

DO NOT give this medicine to children under 12 years of age.

Ingredients:

Each tablet contains Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 60mg and Triprolidine hydrochloride 2.5mg.

Warning:

Driving and using Machinery

This medicine may make you feel sleepy or dizzy, if affected please do not drive or operate machinery

Avoid alcoholic drink.

Can I use Actifed Tablets if I am Pregnant or Breastfeeding? ?

This medicine is NOT suitable for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please speak with your pharmacist or GP for further information.

What side effects could I expect

Actifed Multi-Action Tablets is generally well tolerated but the following side effects tend to be the most common:

  • Headache
  • Difficulty sleeping, nervousness, dizziness
  • Difficulty performing tasks
  • Drowsiness
  • Blurred Vision
  • Thickened mucus, dry mouth or nausea

Who should not use Actifed tablets

This medicine should not be used by the following groups of patients without first seeking medical advice from your GP or our Pharmacist:

  • If you have kidney or liver problems.
  • If you have alcohol dependence
  • If you have bronchitis, emphysema or asthma
  • If you are susceptible to glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
  • If you have blocked arteries or veins (occlusive vascular disease).
  • If you are being treated for a thyroid disorder (overactive thyroid)
  • If you have prostate problems (difficulty with passing water or needing to pass water often).

Actifed Tablets are not suitable if you use any of the following medicines without first speaking with your GP or Pharmacist for medical advice:

  • Hypnotics (sleeping tablets)
  • Opioid Pain Killers, eg codeine
  • Antipsychotics
  • Sedatives, for management of anxiety
  • Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors
  • Cardiac Glycosides, eg Digoxin
  • Ergot Alkaloids
  • Tricyclic Antidepressants, such as Amitriptyline
