About:
Wegovy (Semaglutide) is a prescription-only injectable medication designed to support weight loss.
When used by suitable individuals in combination with a healthy diet and regular exercise, it has proven highly effective for weight management.
Wegovy is also licensed now alongside reduced calorie died and increased exercise to reduce risk of cardiovascular problems (such as strokes and heart attacks) in people whose BMI is above 27.

How does Wegovy work?
Wegovy mimics a natural hormone in your body called GLP–1 and helps to reduce cravings and make you feel generally fuller. This, alongside a focus on a balanced diet and exercise, can be highly effective for weight loss.

In short, Wegovy regulates your appetite by making you feel less hungry and also reduces food cravings and snacking.
Directions:
Wegovy should be injected ONCE weekly. Wegovy is injected under the skin (subcutaneous injection) of your stomach area (abdomen) or upper leg (thigh) or upper arm.
It should be used only alongside a balanced diet which is rich in fruit and vegetables with no more than 30% of your calories coming from fat.
It is most effective when used in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle and dietary change like increased exercise and a commitment to drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water daily.
How to use Wegovy:

Ingredients:
Wegovy contains Semaglutide a licensed GLP-1 receptor agonist. Semaglutide has been used under the brand name of Ozempic for diabetes for several years to help control people's blood sugar.
Side Effects:
Very Common(may affect more than one in 10 people):
- Headache
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
- Fatigue (tiredness)
Common (may affect up to one in 10 people):
- Dizziness
- Gastritis (stomach ache)
- Dyspepsia (reflux/stomach acid)
- Injection site reaction
- Hair loss (temporary)
It is important to follow the dosage regime as this minimises the side effects you will experience.
Warnings and Cautions:
Stop taking Wegovy and discuss with your GP immediately if you:
Begin to get symptoms of acute pancreatitis (inflamed pancreas): symptoms include severe and long-lasting pain in your stomach that may move into your back.
Begin to suffer severe allergic reactions such as swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat with difficulty swallowing.
Acute Pancreatitis.
There is a risk of hypoglycaemia in patients with Diabetes taking insulin or a group of drugs called sulphonylureas.
Suffer with diabetic retinopathy.
Aspiration in association with General anaesthesia or sedation.
Pregnant or breastfeeding or planning on becoming pregnant.
Elderly (over 75).
There is an increased risk of a very rare kind of Thyroid cancer called Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC) – you should speak to your GP if you notice any difficulty swallowing, breathing, pressure or discomfort in the neck.
Also, do not take it if you have a personal or family history of MTC.
You suffer from end-stage renal disease or liver disease.
You have Atrial Fibrillation or a resting heart rate over 100BPM.
History of suicide attempts.

Is Wegovy suitable for me?
Wegovy is licensed for weight loss for adults under 75 whose BMI (Body Mass Index) Is over 30 or if you have a BMI of 27 and you have a weight-related health condition such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, pre-diabetes or heart problems. Your BMI is a measure that considers both your height and weight that we can calculate on your behalf.
How long will Wegovy take to work?
We will always review whether Wegovy is right for you if you have not lost at least 5% of your initial weight after 6 months of Wegovy.
Having said that, according to studies the vast majority of patients achieve meaningful weight loss when using this alongside a balanced diet and exercise. One study showed that over 68 weeks of use patients taking Wegovy lost 14.9% of their body weight compared to just 2.4% in a group only using a placebo (fake medication).
Can I change the day or time I take Wegovy?
Only take Wegovy once a week. If you wish to change the day you take Wegovy you can change the day it is given as long as the previous dose was given two or more days ago.
Must I take Wegovy with food?
Wegovy can be taken any time of the day and does not need to be taken with food.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Wegovy
If you miss a dose of Wegovy and you have more than two days before your next dose take the missed dose as soon as possible.
If you miss a dose of Wegovy and have less than two days before the next dose wait and take the dose on the normal day.
