A pain relief tablet that provides powerful strong pain relief for conditions such as headache, backache, sinusitis, dental pain, arthritic and muscle pain, nerve pain (neuralgia), migraine and period pain.
Solapdeine Tablets contain Paracetamol and Codeine. Paracetamol is a widely used pain killer suitable for mild pain relief. It is well tolerated and has few side effects. Codeine is a centrally acting opiate pain killer much like Morphine which is in the same family. Codeine can cause drowsiness and is addictive so the medicine should not be used to manage chronic pain.

Dosage:

Adults: Two Tablets to be taken up to four times a day as needed but no more regularly than every four hours. No more than two Tablets per dose. No more than eight Tablets in 24 hours.

Solpadeine Plus Contains:

Each capsule contains Paracetamol 500mg and Codeine Phosphate hemihydrate 12.8mg per capsule.

WARNING: Contains codeine. Maximum 3 days use. May cause addiction.

Product Warnings

Who should not use Solpadeine Plus Tablets?
This medicine should not be used by the following groups of patients without first seeking medical advice from your GP or our Pharmacist:

If you have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, codeine, caffeine or to any of the other ingredients
If you are taking other medicines containing paracetamol.
If you are under 12 years
For pain relief in children and adolescents (0-18 years of age) after removal of their tonsils or adenoids due to obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome
If you know that you metabolise very rapidly codeine into morphine
If you are breastfeeding.
If you have liver or kidney disease, including alcoholic liver disease
If you have bowel problems including blockage of your bowel
If you have had an operation to remove your gall bladder
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars
Solpadeine Plus is not suitable if you use any of the following medicines without first speaking with your GP or Pharmacist for medical advice:

Metoclopramide or domperidone (for nausea [feeling sick] and vomiting [being sick])
Cholestyramine (to lower blood cholesterol)
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) prescribed for depression in the last 2 weeks
Substances that make you drowsy (e.g. sedatives, antidepressants or alcohol).
If you take blood-thinning drugs (anticoagulants e.g. warfarin) and you need to take a pain reliever on a daily basis, talk to your doctor because of the risk of bleeding. But you can take occasional doses of Solpadeine Plus Tablets at the same time as anticoagulants.

How do I know if I am addicted to Solpadeine Plus?
If you take the medicine according to the instructions on the pack it is unlikely that you will become addicted to the medicine. However, if the following apply to you it is important that you talk to your doctor:

You need to take the medicine for longer periods.
You need to take more than the recommended dose.
When you stop taking the medicine you feel very unwell but you feel better if you start taking the medicine again
Driving and using Machinery
This medicine may make you feel sleepy or dizzy, if affected please do not drive or operate machinery

Can I use Solpadeine Plus Tablets if I am Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
This medicine is NOT suitable for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please speak with your pharmacist or GP for further information.

Can I buy Solpadeine Plus Tablets over the counter?
This medicine is available to buy over the counter. You do not need a prescription to buy Solapdeine Plus but you will be asked some questions about your medical health when you add it to your basket. Our pharmacist will check your consultation prior to despatch to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you.
